|MAI ANALYSIS: FACILITATING AUTOMOTIVE PARTS AND COMPONENTS EXPORTS THROUGH DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORK (DIN)|
Tuesday 18th September 2012 - Malaysia recorded a total trade of RM1.26 trillion in 2011, a positive growth of 8.6% compared to the previous year. Exports have increased to 8.7% to RM694.5 billion while imports increased to 8.6% to RM528.8 billion. However, natural disasters of Japan earthquake followed by tsunami and the Thailand flood occurred in the year have affected the supply chain particularly in the manufacturing sector. This has led to the slow growth of the manufacturing sector which recorded a growth of 4.5% in 2011, compared to 11.4% in 2010.
