Mazda MX-5 ‘Kuro’ – UK Only PDF Print E-mail

The MX-5 is on its away out, with its replacement due next year. Before the new model arrives, Mazda is sustaining the MX-5 nameplate with a series of special edition models. Earlier last year, Mazda released the Roadster (as the MX-5 is known in Japan) Black Tuned, which despite its name, is not available black but in white, red and green.

Today, Mazda is another special edition model, this time only for UK, a major market for the MX-5.

The MX-5 Kuro is based on the UK market SE and Sport Tech trim line models, available as a 126 hp 1.8-litre soft-top convertible and a 158 hp 2.0-litre roadster coupe.

'Kuro' means black in Japanese. In an odd linguistic swap, Mazda decided to give its Japanese market final-hurrah MX-5 model an English name (Black Tuned) while its UK market model gets a Japanese 'Kura' name, referring to the same black colour theme.

Specifications for the UK market MX-5 'Kura' is very similar to the Japanese market 'Black Tuned' Roadster.
