The Industry Lead Body (ILB) for the Automotive Industry

In 2013, MAI was appointed as the Industry Lead Body (ILB) for skills development for the Automotive Sector by the Department of Skills Development (DSD).

To jump-start skills development in the automotive sector, MAI spearheaded the “Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu (PPT)” and the “Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN)” programs for the automotive sector. The initiatives aim at producing highly skilled workers through various routes, to increase the capability and efficiency of the workforce. In order to keep abreast with the evolving needs of the employment market, MAI continues to review and to enhance the training quality of the program.

Through the PPT and SLDN programs, participants have the opportunity to be certified with the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM - Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia). Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) is a certificate issued by the Department of Skills Development (DSD), Ministry of Human Resources to graduates of vocational programs offered by public or private training institutions. These programs are guided by competency standards outlined in industry endorsed occupational standards, formally known as NOSS.

SKM comprises various levels of credentials attainable by individual trainees, and each level reflects the recognised competency, for both skills and knowledge, of that individual.
